Artwalk Tour
The February 2, 2012, Artwalk Tour will feature a variety of artist styles and media, representing the diversity of the art scene in San Pedro. Each month a different itinerary is planned to provide the visitor with the opportunity to experience a wide range of visual treats. The free one hour tour will meet in the Chamber of Commerce Lobby, 7th & Mesa, at 6:30.

Gallery Neuartig will be presenting Matthew Thomas' new exhibition "Pattern of Freedom," a selection of drawings and prints he created in the early 90's that have never been shown before. The works vibrate with energy and feeling. A synthesizer, Thomas brings together themes from science, mathematics and religion in his works.

Gallery LS presents drawings by Hoy-Min Gweon, a sculptor from South Korean. Gweon will travel from South Korea to be present for the opening of her exhibition. Gweon¹s says of herself "her consciousness is filled with things so untamed, illogical, even chaotic, at the same time, something we call ‘will’ arises and creates order." The drawings are two-dimensional visual narratives of these 'Living Things' crawling in her head, loaded with historic background of the primitives. Compared with sculpture, drawings allow her to instantly express and represent emotional images that come to her mind unexpectedly. This is why, as a sculptor, she loves to draw as well.

LarkGallery returns to the Loft with "New Beginnings", a group show including 12 artists, each showing new art in which a first step in technique or style led to new personal discoveries. In addition to the beautiful art by award winning artists, Pashyo, Sel Sarkin and the SangomaBeat drummers and dancers will present "Magical Drum Songs" set to piano, vocal and djembe drum.

Each month the Artwalk tour starts at 6:30, meeting at the San Pedro Chamber of Commerce, 390 W. 7th Street, and follows a different itinerary. To receive monthly tour information by email, contact FirstthursdaySPtour@gmail.com. Following the approximately one hour tour, visitors are encouraged to visit other galleries, shop, eat and enjoy the music and ambiance that fill the streets on First Thursday.
